Ten trainees in the metal and electronic industries seized the opportunity to complete a part of their training abroad. This special 4 week part of their training began on February 28th. They initially took the train to Paris and from there another 140 km north to Amiens. The idea seemed easy at first. Christine is a florist in training and has worked in a Norwegian flower shop in Løten for the last one and a half years. She wanted to come to Freiburg in order to broaden her pro-fessional and language competences and to study German culture intensively “on site”. For young people in Europe the choice of profession is still an important issue. After they managed to get an apprenticeship they can often experience problems which could cause the termination of the training placement. BBQ (job, education, qualification) participates as a partner in the European pilot project “Imp@ct” with France, Belgium and Poland. The project develops innovative tools for job orientation and training support. The expected results are the increase of the performances in exams, the integration into the labor market and the decrease in training terminations. more ...

On a weekly basis the project zip.EuroCompetence offers for young people with Italian, Croatian, and Turkish background vocational and language training in their mother tongue. Nothing is more frustrating for unemployed persons than sending out countless unsuccessful applications. They loose their self-confidence and regard their skills and talents as useless. Academie Silberburg, a training institution from Stuttgart and a partner of the DP zip., wants to counter that despondency. They offer training courses for individuals with German and foreign passports that aim at helping them to rediscover their resources and to form networks. Partner Forum der Kulturen in cooperation with Kulturhaus Arena started to organise work experiences in cultural in recreational facilities for migrants who are in occupational transition phases. Especially in those areas migrants, with their specific competencies, can discover new perspectives. The guided work experiences are embedded in a corresponding training programme. more ...
